These are my external drives that are used solely for editing pictures. From left to right, we have:
Milo (named for my cat) - this is my scratch disk. Any edits in photoshop happen here and all that editing history resides here as XML files. Milo is 250GB in size. Milo get's backed up online.
Mac HD (named for my computer) - This is one of three backups to my iMac. This holds all my user files including email, music, and the Aperture library that keeps track of all my photos. The other two backups are my home server and online storage. Mac HD is 320GB.
Porsche - This is the first stop for photos that come off the camera. Using Aperture, the photos get tagged and placed onto this drive. This is my working drive. A typical wedding will be about 8-12 GB in size, so Porsche is 500 GB, giving me space for about 40 weddings.
Ehcsrop - Is the mirror image of Porsche. Everything that is written to Porsche get's written to Ehcsrop. So if Porsche were to have a catastrophic accident, it would be okay because everything is also here. What if something bad happens to both? Again no worries because everything on Ehcsrop gets copied to online storage.
