Dear Interwebs

I am marveling at the device I hold in my hand: the iPod Touch. Who knew you could fit all of your quirky traits, your disturbing sights (sites), your intrinsic charms, into such a tiny device? As I wander theough the city I find you where I least expect you (the car wash on Sepulveda or Barnes and Noble; the Thai place in Westwood; even at the movie theater). Oh Internetz, you surprise me with delight whenever you pop up unexpectedly on my iPod Touch. We're never separated for long.

(You're Love Is Lifting Me) Higher and Higher - Rita Coolidge

I meant to mark the occasion two days ago but I had forgot. Happy one month anniversary (and two days) to the new blog! I'm posting almost every day (taking a break on the weekends so I can go and shoot!) and really enjoying showing different sides of my photography.

One thing I've noticed about this iteration of the SZP blog is how little writing I tend to do. I thought about the design of the blog and focused on the pictures. And with pictures, I'm a firm believer of letting them speak for themselves. That leaves a lot of me out of the blog. So I'm going to have to work on a way to get more of myself into these pages.

For now, I'm going to use songs for my post titles. You'll begin to get a better glimpse of my personality through my music and while it's not much, it's a start.

Update

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm alive and doing well. Other than the daily photos, I've had a backlog of images to work on for posting here. One of the best things about having switched to typepad for blogging is that I can create a bunch of posts at one time, schedule them to post in the future and then go work on other stuff. That keeps me from having to post everyday. I work in bursts of activity and it's great to have a blog that lets me be me.

On a totally unrelated note, the wife and I just bought our tickets to Amsterdam(!) last night. We. Are. So. Excited! We'll be in the Nether regions (heh) from November 22nd through December 2nd. Our friend Sergio lives there and we'll be staying with him and celebrating Thanksgiving there. I'd like to prepare a mexican feast since he says the mexican food is pretty nonexistent in Amsterdam. However, I'm not looking forward to smuggling pickled jalapenos in my carry on luggage. We'll see what we can do.

I'm sorry there haven't been many posts to ye olde weblog. I was using Apple's iWeb to manage the blog and I got frustrated with trying to post pictures to it. I could have posted my pictures to flickr and then linked to them on the blog but that would have added another layer of clicking for you. I want to use my blog to showcase the latest pictures I've taken and iWeb just didn't make it easy to do so (which is weird because stuff is just supposed to work on a Mac, right?). Another thing that bothered me about using iWeb was the fact that I could only update the blog from one machine. How lame is that? So now I'm using Typepad and man, what a difference. I feel like I just got a new haircut after ending a bad relationship.
